About Ma Ferme
Ma Ferme is a cooperative farm set up in 2021 in Labliau (Enghien) to develop local, sustainable and accessible food production, whilst rebuilding the connection between those who produce, consume and invest in our food. More than 1,200 cooperants invested in a large-scale crowdfunding campaign to give this unique and experimental project a chance.
Dieter Demey has been involved in the project from the very beginning. As a volunteer, cooperative member, co-organiser of the guinguettes and photographer, he has documented life at Ma Ferme for five years. From guided tours, group workshops, meetings and planting sessions, to the guinguettes, concerts and open days, Dieter Demey’s lens was there to capture it all.
The result, presented here, is a colourful and lively overview of these activities and the many people who have dedicated themselves to the co-operative over the years.

The location
Ma Ferme covers an area of 11 hectares, comprising 10 hectares of land and 1 hectare of buildings. It is situated close to the Bois d'Enghien, a Natura 2000 site, and forms a green oasis amidst the surrounding conventional farmland. Part of the land is set aside for the production of organic vegetables and eggs, which supply around a hundred families, as well as fruit growing, beekeeping and rural accommodation. The buildings house various projects, such as a brewery, a fruit press and a joinery workshop.
Workshops
The strength of Ma Ferme lies in its sense of community, which is most evident during the workshops, run entirely by volunteers. During these workshops, a biodiverse hedge has been planted around the entire perimeter, fruit trees are planted, and the grounds and premises are maintained.
Guinguettes
At the heart of Ma Ferme’s social life are the guinguettes, a monthly event held from April to October. It is the central meeting place for everyone involved with the co-operative from project leaders, coordinators and volunteers to the general public. As well as a bar and food, it provides a platform for artists to showcase their talents.
Concerts
Countless musicians have performed at the guinguettes over the past few years, playing a wide variety of styles, from rock, pop and covers to punk and DJs.
La Foire
La Foire is the largest event organised by Ma Ferme. Every year, the doors are opened to the general public, giving them the chance to discover the site and the cooperative’s various projects. In addition, a market is held, along with talks and performances by various artists.
Portraits
Ma Ferme owes its very existence to the tireless dedication of countless people. Coordinators, project leaders, staff, artists, volunteers, visitors… Every day, they help shape and bring to life this unique project.
